ArtAbility is a pilot program that provides free studio opportunities and arts instruction to teens and young adults with developmental and intellectual challenges. This program is led by trained artists in the community and focuses on self-expression, self-awareness, personal growth and professional experience and exposure. The intention is to enhance development, independence and productivity to create an improved quality of life, better self-esteem, social skills and professional representation in the art community for this population. Fundamentally, this program is about changing perceptions of special needs and showing that each person has something important that they feel and want to communicate.
The last ArtAbility event this year will be Sat. Dec 3 from 2 to 4pm at CAC. Class size is limited; for more information or to reserve a spot, call 214-320-1275.
