2 Day Silk Painting Workshop (Johnson 10/18-19)

Join Dallas artist Clara Johnson for a transformative two-day workshop where you’ll unlock the creative possibilities of silk.  Designed for all skill levels, this empowering class will guide you in crafting your unique design and painting on a 22”x22” square-shaped silk scarf using Jacquard green label dye. ( If you are a fast painter and have time to do a second scarf you are welcome to do so for an additional supply fee of $35.00). In this class you’ll discover the distinctive qualities of various silk, learn techniques for creating texture, and the delicate balance between spontaneity and control.  Clara will provide most materials freeing you to focus on exploring your artistic vision. Come prepared to unleash your imagination and tap into the liberating joy of creative expression.

What You Need to Bring:  Bring an idea or two about what you would like to create. We will use your ideas as a jumping off place for your piece.  You will also need an assortment of brushes.   I like to use watercolor, acrylic and sumi  brushes. Be sure to have small brushes for detail work and larger brushes for covering large spaces quickly.  Bring a medium size water container, paper towels, and a snack,  if you like.
