Topics covered include basic preparation and wheel throwing techniques: wedging, centering, throwing, trimming, and pulled handles, in addition to formal and conceptual development, firing, glazing, and relevant ceramic history. Objects demonstrated will include cups, mugs, bowls, plates, and more intermediate or advanced forms upon request. Classes will consist primarily of technical demonstrations and work time with targeted research guidance and ceramic history references according to individual student interests.
Students currently enrolled in a ceramics/clay class at the CAC are invited to attend the Ceramics Lab sessions free of charge. For more about the Ceramics Lab and lab times, click here.
Classes will not meet the week of Thanksgiving 11/24 - 11/30.
