Explore the ins and outs of contemporary bookmaking, working towards making your own archival bound, journals, sketchbooks, and albums. This class will introduce artists to bookmaking techniques, and in-depth knowledge of paper and its properties. Student will learn the basics of adhesives, sizing, and manipulating materials to begin the integration of bookmaking into your artistic practice. We’ll work with high-quality materials, easy-to-master skills, and step-by-step processes, while understanding and constructing several basic styles of handmade books. No experience necessary, curious beginners encouraged!

Each Student will experience making five basic book forms, the simple four page fold, a Pamphlet, an Accordion, a Stab Binding, and a Coptic Binding. Focusing on the fundamentals;  working in Soft Bound and Hard Bound styles, a student will explore design a function of the Basic Book Forms.

All materials are provided, this is a rare opportunity to browse through Terri’s private collection of paper for to create your personal book designs.

There is an additional $65 Supply Fee, payable to the studio, DAFPS.  Cash, check, Credit Card, or Apple Pay are accepted.
