I recently wrapped up four years teaching Ceramics, 3-D Design, and Art Appreciation at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Leaving in January 2025 was tough, but it allowed me to reconnect with my own art practice.
Before that, I taught as an adjunct professor in the Dallas area, following my MA/MFA at the University of Dallas—for me, grad school was more about learning to fire a gas kiln than chasing academia!
Over my 30+ year journey/career with clay, curiosity has led me to new materials. Last summer, I made my first quilt top using mostly recycled African cottons. I’ve also started silversmithing, blending broken and found objects into wearable pieces.
I love the balance of teaching and learning. I’m thrilled to return to the CAC, where I’ve taught off and on for over 20 years. My goal is always to help students feel confident and capable with clay, whether it’s a hobby or a creative lifeline. And to have fun!
