Still Life Drawing Class (Smith Tuesday Evenings)

In this class we will explore the art of drawing by focusing our eyes on the still life. Historically the still life has been an excellent subject to expand drawing skills and a springboard for a deeper understanding of how we see and record the world around us. In this class we will use a variety of materials: pencils, charcoal, pastels, and ink to quickly capture an image on paper using line, shadow, and contrast then develop these sketches into expressive compositions. Classroom discussions on classic and contemporary artists, critiques, and drawing assignments will help build your personal knowledge, skill levels, and your love of drawing.
