Drawing

Drawing classes at the Creative Arts Center of Dallas teach the foundation of nearly all visual art — learning to see, and to translate what you see onto paper. Across our classes you'll work in graphite, charcoal, and ink on observational drawing, value and shading, perspective, and figure drawing from a live model. Beginners are genuinely welcome; the first thing we teach is that drawing is a skill you build, not a talent you're born with.

Classes serve adults at every level, from people picking up a pencil for the first time to artists refining their figure work. The studio provides easels, drawing boards, and live-model sessions where relevant; you bring a basic supply kit of pencils or charcoal, listed on the class page and yours to keep and reuse.

Drawing sharpens every other discipline, which is why so many of our students start here. Our instructors are working artists who draw daily. As a nonprofit, cost shouldn't be a barrier — our scholarship program helps cover tuition for those who need it.
