Painting

Painting classes at the Creative Arts Center of Dallas cover oil, acrylic, and watercolor — color mixing, composition, brushwork, and painting from still life, landscape, photo reference, and imagination. Beginners learn to mix color, build a painting from block-in to finish, and handle their chosen medium with confidence; experienced painters use class time and critique to push their work. You choose your medium and your subject.

Classes welcome adults at every level. The studio provides easels and a painting setup; you bring your own paints and brushes — personal supplies listed on the class page that you keep and reuse across classes. Painting runs as eight-week full sessions for sustained development, and as shorter classes and workshops focused on one medium or technique, like an introduction to watercolor, acrylics or oil.

Few things are as absorbing as a few hours at the easel. Our instructors are exhibiting painters. We're a nonprofit — our scholarship program helps cover tuition for students who need it.
