Mokuhanga

This traditional, Japanese wood block printing technique involves carving an image into wood ( soft Shina Plywood), then using water based colors applied with brushes, and pressing a thin, strong paper to the surface to transfer the image. We will begin with a simple black and white image, learning how to transfer, create registration marks, ink, and print onto Japanese paper.
