Kevan Meehan
Kevan Meehan, with no art education beyond 5th grade public school art projects, has
always been interested in making things.
After earning his BA in Industrial Technology with a teaching certificate, Kevan taught
wood shop and wood carving for one year for Port Arthur ISD. It was not for him. He
then went on to a 40+ year career in commercial construction – starting as a carpenter
and working his way up to commercial construction manager, construction
superintendent and independent contractor.
Kevan has spent his last 12+ years leading his own handyman business for both
commercial and residential concerns in the DFW metro area.
His love of wood carving led him to the Grapevine Woodcarving group until he
discovered his love of metal arts at the CAC. For more than 12 years, Kevan had been
a metal art student (learning under several talented instructors), when he was invited to
teach the course that he loves.
Kevan loves helping students advance from a healthy fear of fire and noise to enjoying
safely shaping steel into new and sometimes unexpected works of art.
Kevan has won several awards for his metal art creations at the State Fair of Texas over
the last 10 years.
