Still Life Drawing

4 Session Class
Tuesday 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM
6/30 – 7/21
5 of 8 spots available

The main focus of this Still Life Drawing Class is to get gutsy and bold and get it down on paper.  That means we’re going to do a lot of drawing, and use up a lot of paper, and we’re going to get our hands dirty and probably our clothes too.

We’ll explore the art of drawing by focusing our eyes on the still life. Historically the still life has been an excellent subject to expand drawing skills and a springboard to a deeper understanding of how we see and record the world around us.

In class we’ll quickly capture the image on paper through a process of swift gesture drawings, refinements and reexamination. Investigating topics of visual perception, relationships, composition, and contrast, using pencils, charcoal and pastels will loosen up those stiff mark making habits and open the page to a freer, looser drawing approach that reflects speed, flow and confidence.

Classroom discussions on local art events, contemporary artists, group critiques, and home drawing assignments will help build your personal knowledge, skill levels, and your love of drawing.
