This class is designed for painters who have little to no painting experience, but wish to explore the amazing properties and fun of watercolor. This class will provide exposure to watercolor basics, techniques and watercolor materials as well as exploring student personal interests in subject matter. Students will paint in class learning to master these techniques to ultimately paint using their personal choice of subjects using photo or sketch references. Students may also paint using instructor references until comfortable introducing their own. Instructor will provide personal individualized feedback and help toward their personal goals. The class may be repeated numerous times as students increase their proficiency and confidence and the content changes each session.

Skills Acquired:

  • Knowledge of watercolor application basics
  • Refined knowledge of color, value, contrast and composition 
  • Explore student choices of personal subject matter toward a goal of personal creative expression
  • How to choose a composition format for maximum effect and artistic satisfaction
  • How to choose what to include or exclude in references

Prerequisites: None

Supply List: No supply list is provided until after the instructor has discussed materials. Supplies will be provided for the first two sessions as students purchase personal supplies.
