In Discovering Watercolor, a class for the curious and the beginner, you will gain a thorough understanding of the specialized materials used to make beautiful watercolors, and will study the qualities of watercolor that make it so charming and challenging a medium.  You will also study famous paintings and take a deep dive into the “rules and tools” artists have used for centuries to create the world’s best and most compelling paintings.   Simple watercolor painting “drills and doodles” will ease you into the medium, its techniques and its materials, with the goal of encouraging early success in painting.  Besides painting along with the instructor, you will have additional opportunities to bring your own reference photos in order to practice simplifying your subject, and to use in creating value and color studies.  An especially curated list of supplies available through Amazon will prepare you to move through this class and into more advanced classes or painting at home with ease.
